Brass National Cash Registers Information

This is THE place to go to find out info on your ornate antique cash register!! Not many examples of this intricate mechanical era are still available on the antiques market.

My collection of brass National Cash Registers started because I am an engineer and enjoy things mechanical.  I also enjoy the beauty of a restored brass register with their Tiffany styled cases. These mechanical marvels and their plain metal successors are a tribute the ingenuity and skill of their creators. Many people wonder how much their brass cash register is worth. Or ask where can a brass cash register be appraised? This website will help you.

Since the 1990’s, I have been collecting National Cash Registers and have acquired a very respectable sample of interesting machines. Below are a few pictures.

The 3 machines in the foreground include

  • NCR model #2,
  • NCR Model #50.25 and
  • NCR #8 with clock.
National Cash Register model #2, model #50.25 and NCR Model #8 with clock.

I have a NCR Brass cash register in working condition. It is a model 337, serial #1501695 finish A. The only thing wrong is that the plate under the top lid that covers the internals and has the window in it for the counter is missing. I have used a metal plate from another machine but I would like to replace it with the original brass type. Can you direct me to someone who furnishes replacement parts that might be able to supply this piece? I can furnish a photo if necessary. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

I’m finding it difficult to navigate your site due to all the clickbait links. I’m hoping this one is legitimate. I have a brass register, nickel to a dollar, clean and functional. I can send pictures when I have a sure address.

Just wanna know if your still in business. I have two National cash registrars that I need information on. One is says size, finish, and number with 25981, 91S, and serial number 884210. It is completely brass. It was sold to the United Cigars Stores Company NY; which information was under the drawer. It’s last date certified was 09/14/2010.

The second National Cash registrar is fancier with the size, finish, and number being respectfully A28663, 441, and serial number 1246320. It has a guarantee date 0f 03/17/2013. Can you help me with this information?

I have a 1930’s National Till register. It does have a serial number and was used during the diamond rush back then. It is either silver or pewter and needs repairs. What would the estimate worth of it be. I live in Cape Town.

I am looking for a cash register that belonged to my great, great uncle. It was in a shop still being use. I was disappointed when I saw it was no longer in use. They had sold it. It was a large brass cash register with the raised name on the front, J B Rastello. He was a tailor back in the day. I would love to find it and buy it. Maybe if I put this out there someone will find it? The shop was in Laurium, Michigan.

    Thank you!

I have a National cash register that my ex left when we broke up. There’s no serial number that i can find on it. I opened the door on the front of it and it had a plate that has a number 362947 2, along with 60 cycles, 110 volts, 240 watts. But that’s it. Is there any way you might b able to help me out with finding more info about it for me. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thx so much!

I notice it has been over a year since a comment was posted, so I realize this may go unseen.
I have a NCR 4224 register. When I first got it, operation was very sluggish and the keys were difficult to press and get them to return. I took the cover off and used parts washer fluid to clean the years of grease, dust and debris from everything. At first it worked excellent. I decided to go thru and press each key to test them. It became stuck after pressing the .80 key. I had the drawer off the machine and thought maybe that was why, so I replaced the drawer and viola! It became unstuck! BUT after pressing several keys successfully, it once again has become stuck! Any help would be much appreciated.

I have an 1893 NCR cash register. I have had to replace the numbers as they were all missing when I purchased it.
Now that the numbers have been replaced, I have the round piece that goes over top of the numbers but I am having difficulty putting enough pressure to have the round piece fit. Do you have any suggestions?

Trying to find parts for my 1907 NCR brass register with cabinet and 5 drawers. Serial # 560090. One of the drawers was vandalized and pried open with a crowbar. The drawer itself was repaired but the cast iron mechanism in behind and one other part was broken beyond repair. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am looking at selling an NCR – 452.2 – Serial number 885919. It is fully functional, has original keys and a piece of the original purchase receipt. It does not have the top piece but I have found many different reproductions online which could be bought. I have no idea of an accurate price for sale and would love some general info – and to sell it!

I have a 1906 National Cash Register with from the “Hotel Woodward” which was located at Broadway and 55th Street. Serial Number places it as 1906 The “Hotel Woodward” is prominently displayed across the front of the machine. The Model / Size number is hard to read but ends in XX 1/2? I believe it is 39 1/2. I can’t find any information on this machine or any model numbers that ended in 1/2 Any help would be appreciated. Willing to sell.

I have model 313-11, I think serial no. 3652. The keys worked when I tried them before purchase, but are locked now. I’ve tried your suggestions. As I face the register, there appears on the right hand side, what looks like a lock with gears engaged on the gear which i assume allows the keys to operate. What kind of a key does that lock take, please. If I buy a set of keys for the 313, will one of them work that? Thanks.

Hello, I am trying to learn more about my cash register such as the model or class or any other information so I know what manual I need to get and how the machine operates and how to service the machine. I would like to add a top sign which would have to be approx. 18 inches between the screw holes.

The tag reads The National Cash Register Co.
    Serial = S323693V which should make it a 1930
    model – 1765E
ii think it is sheet metal because a magnet sticks to it and I know its not brass or wood
there are 2 rows of key for the flags
it measures 19 inches wide + 3 3/4 inch for the receipt dispenser + 4 inches for crank handle.

it is 15 1/5 inches deep.
    it is 17 inches high.

the receipt and crank handle are located on the right side
it has a wooden cash draw.
the white marble slab measured 19 inches x 3 7/8 inches x 3/8 inch and is attaches by 2 screws
I don’t see screw holes for a top sign
the over all length of the top flag area is 19 inches across, with 17 1/2 inches of glass viewing area to see the flags. The glass is held in by 2 screws on each end.

I know my machine probably isn’t worth much but I think it looks neat.

    Thank you,
    Kevin

Available: NCR Serial No. 1719842. (Under the Serial Number is the following: 942(2) RS-4F. Apparently built between February 1918 and February 1919. Anyone know a reasonable value? Any interest in acquiring? Would consider donating to a non-profit—like a public museum. (Buyer or donee would be required to move and load—a bit heavy!) We live near Saluda, NC. Anyone have any comments? Jerry

Your advice on how to unjam an NCR 400 was very helpful.

My daughter, 3 years old at the time, slid 1 penny, 1 dime, and 1 quarter into the printer so
the 400 wouldn’t crank. Now it cranks!

    Thank you!
