I'm 78Yrs. Worked for NCR 40Yrs. In 1950's NCR gave Cust. $15.00 trade-in for one. We destroyed many, many of them using sledge hammers to get them out of circulation. NCR said they were made "to good" because they would never wear out. We sold them at junk yark for .89 cents. Clayton Spense, Haltom City, Tx kept a lot of the parts & now restores & sell them across the US. I have his business card.

I have a 1905 National Cash Register, Serial #462133, Model 47 1/4, I believe it to be brass, it has a fleur-de-lis pattern, and the mechanism on the side to run register receipts. It does not have a top piece. I was just wondering if you could give me more data about the Model #47 1/4. I haven't been able to find much info on the net. I was also told it was a 300 series, could you confirm?

I love your site. As a kid in Loveland Colorado I enjoied watching the money wire carriers at local stores. I would like to buy a simple Lamson wire car to put on a cable in my work shop to reminv me of those days. Do you have any for sale? Thanks Jerry

Your site is very helpful and I enjoyed visiting.

Its wonderful to see you website as there is very little on the web which covers the history of early cash carrier systems. Andrew Buxton's Cash Railway website and BrassRegisters are the most informative. I have a large collection of early pneumatic tube terminals, cash office parts, tubing & system parts and are hoping to find a venue to get the lot working.. one day!

I have a #2 NCR from 1890. Serial #27568. This Registers the amount of your Purchase, for the top plate. It has the twisted rod with caps on top of the cash drawn. Also in the scroll work just underneath the glass window reads National Cash Register in the scroll itself which I found to be quite unique. My question is this. How do I tell if Tiffany designed this particular one?

Was just wondering if you could give me some information on the counter cover. It seems the one I am restoring came with an untapped customer counter plate and dollars/cents counter cover plate. I am just assuming, after some visual inspections of the orginal machine screws, the the tap could be a #3 @ 66 tpi. If correct would you happen to know the drill bit size...if not correct, do you happen to know the drill size and tap #? Sorry, its a model 313 shipped during the year 1911 by the serial #. Sincerely, Craig A. Curtis

Have a NCR model 337 and 956096 above the lift up front. Do not have any keys though. Wish to purchase full set of keys.A sticker at the bottom of the drawer says the register was made for the SA Typewriter company. As far as I can ascertain it was made Feb 28th 1911. The keys are in Ł /- d. Very lucky as it is in excellent condition. Most interesting your information on old NCR cash registers. Fascinating stuff. Thank you.

My family's Department Store in Chillicothe Ohio, M Schachne and Sons, used Lamson Systems. I do remember the cable systen and you could see all the cups traveling to the cash room. They modernized and went to the pneumatic system. On the "You know you are from Chillicothe" Facebook page there are many comments about remembering the system. I have a bronze cup and also one of the cable cups. Your site is very interesting. Thank you

I was very Impressed with your collection and the amount of time and effort you have put into the registers. I have just today, in fact, aquired my great grandfather's register from his store. It is a 736 Plain. With an S....It actually has a label under the drawer which shows it was sold to the US Army and who inspected it and there is a tracer number as well. It all still works. I have his vintage coke machine as well and I think I may restore the register to match. Maybe Do it in a Mountain Dew theme just to mix things up. I would like to find out about the tracer number. Is there a reference you know of? It would be cool to find out where this register was during it's service because I am also an Army veteran. Again, Wonderful job on your website and collection. I could only dream ! ! !

Good morning, I recently acquired a 1915 National Register (Dolphins) and would like a rough estimate of what it might be worth. All of the keys work, its pretty clean, i have checked and it is not a replica the bottom of the drawer has the paper of authenticity on it with the same serial # as the machine (1488613) and it model #347. i have pictures if they are needed. Thanks, Kirsten Smith

I have a model 6 NCR brass register. Unfortunately, the serial # plate is missing. The last date shown on the patent numbers is June 13, 99. Is the missing serial # a setback? There is no paper under the drawer to provide a hint and the "Amount Purchased" sign is missing. It works fine. Would this machine still be desirable in the market? I want to say, your site is the most informative I have come across. Thanks from those of us who aren't experienced in this area of collecting.

I am in the cash register business (41 years) and we were founded in 1952 (Dumac Busienss Systems, Inc.). We were a Cash Register Dealer for Sweda, Data Terminal Systems and NCR(in the 1990's). Today StoreNext & Panasonic. We are building a "museum" of registers we've traded in over the years ranging from NCR brassy units to the NCR 2127 still in use today to Sweda 46 & 76 to DTS 545 and Panasonics. I have been trying to find information on NCR's from the 1920's to the 1950's since those are not covered as well as the units prior to 1915.

I recently purchased a National cash register when buying beer signs. It is nickel plated model 317. Serial number is S155097M but from pictures I have seen it looks like a 313 because there is no printer on the right side. Because it's serial number begins with S I know it has been reworked or resold. The drawer face is nickel plated brass which has some wear around the edges so the brass is exposed. The rest of the machine has a pretty good finish with minor wear on some of the corners. It does not have the total sale top sign and the top pieces do not have the screw holes to hold one. Under the lid there is one dollar counter and one cent counter under one single glass cover. All the keys work except I cannot make multiple indicators go up when pushing a key down partially and trying to push another. I will probally need to send you pictures for a full appraisal and to find out why the numbers and the machine do not match up. Thanks, Jay

I reciently aquired an unrestored, model#313 Brass National Cash Register.I am a collecter, but Have little knowledge concerning cash registers of any kind. The top plate is missing . Other than that, the register seems Unscathed. What are the Pros. & cons. Of selling as is vs. restoring, or is there even a markit for it missing a top plate? THANX!

I have my a NCR Brass Register - No. 542 (2) -E.R & S. It's a beauty. It was in my grandfather's /father's lumber yard in Coney Island up til 1996. My grandfather started the business in 1916.. and I he bought this around that time. We were thinking of selling it but I would like to hang on to it for awhile to enjoy. I'm trying to arrange moving it and wonder what it weighs. I know my brother can't BUDGE it. I imagine I'll need a substantial table to sit it on. I may also be interested in an appraisal. Thank you! Barbara

My wife, Elizabeth, and I own a former JC Penney store here in Downtown Corvallis. It had a pneumatic system installed. I wanted to obtain a carrier that I could put on exhibit in the Foyer of the building with a history of pneumatic systems, carriers, etal.

Great website. I found my 1913 NCR at a collector's barn and did some research via your page and learned so much. Thanks for all your efforts and research, and the free info. One thing I'd like to know is sites/retailers to purchase either real/reproduction top signs (Amount Purchased) for my dolphin model CR.
